Grandparents Day and Cattle Work

Ben's Thought for the Week....is still being formulated as he naps on the sofa :>))

Check back for his thought later.  He mentioned low tailed dogs.

Grandparents Day???

We met the kids and some of the grandkids at the steakhouse in Carthage, Missouri Sunday night.  Blaine (son) told us it was Grandparents Day.

Good company, good meal and afterwards we walked across the parking lot to a fast food playground and topped it off watching AJ.

Site of the future goat shed.  Ben aims to put a roof over the panels and cover the west and north sides.  He's working on the roof supports now with the new welding stuff he got at the auction yesterday in Kansas.  He should have been an inventor.

Keeper carefully watching the goats lest they head out for parts unknown again.

Ben commented we didn't have enough goats to keep the brush down and probably ought to add another 60 head or so!  At least they'd be easier to spot moving at a high rate of speed.  Leslie didn't believe Ben when he said they grazed at 90 mph.  She does now!

Ed and Bobbie Hamersley, Walker, Missouri

Friday, September 5th was the day to work cattle.  Ben drove over to help Ed and Bobbie after he located the "lost" goats.

It's usually just Ed and Bobbie working the cattle.  They had over 180 head of 450 lb calves.  They thought they'd be working long after dark.  But with three sets of hands, they finished before supper!

Even got Ben limbered up after his spill from the horse early in the morning!  Read about that on the next visitor's page back.

Ed purveying the cattle.

Bobbie kept 'em pushed up, Ben and Ed manned both sides of the chute.
